The BCCO was formed for people living in and around Bedford who are in their twenties and above, who play a classical instrument, but do not currently have an orchestra to play with. We want to include those players who used to play regularly when they were at school or college, but are now a little 'rusty' and would like to pick it up again.
The idea started in the summer of 2005 when several friends were on a camping trip in the Peak District. We discovered pretty quickly that there were many young (ish!) people in Bedford who did not have an orchestra to play with. We spend our childhood and adolescent years learning an instrument, only to have it sitting in a wardrobe at home.
We decided that we wanted to do something about this and applied for a grant from the Bedford Charity for our basic start up costs. We were successful with this and we started rehearsing in May 2006. Click here to find out how to join.
